CEO's Message

Welcome to the Wealth Management Institute!

The Wealth Management Institute (WMI) was established in 2003 with the support of Temasek and GIC. We are Asia’s first educational institution that specializes in the training and development of wealth managers.

Today, WMI is an autonomous institute at the Nanyang Technological University Singapore. Being part of NTU will further strengthen our position as Asia’s centre of excellence for wealth management education and research. WMI@NTU will leverage the University’s capabilities and resources for world class faculty, cutting-edge research and degree programmes. We will continue to be a practice-based institute, with our programmes deeply integrated and aligned to serve the needs of the industry.

WMI has extensive experience working with the Institute of Banking & Finance (IBF) Standards and Certifications since their introduction. We are honoured to be the inaugural recipient of the IBF Inspiring Educator award in 2012 in recognition of our commitment to driving the IBF certification adoption within the finance industry, as well as our contributions to raising competencies in the finance sector. The award also recognizes our commitment as one of the pioneering IBF-accredited training providers for the wealth management industry.

Our programmes have seen the unique participation of aspiring and seasoned professionals from Asset Management, Private Banks, Consumer Banks and Insurance Companies, as well as central banks and financial regulatory institutions. We have welcomed participants from over 23 countries across the world and the diversity of participants has contributed to the building of an invaluable network between the private, public and regulatory sectors across Asia and beyond.

We are proud to have played a role in expanding and deepening the skills and expertise of wealth managers in Singapore and the region through our comprehensive suite of practice-based programmes. We look forward to partner the wealth management industry as it faces challenges from changing client expectations, pressure on traditional fee models, tightening regulatory operating environments, impact of digitalization and automation, and disruptions from non-traditional players. We believe every challenge also represents an opportunity to scale greater heights.

WMI hopes to play a central role in helping wealth managers acquire the skills needed to anticipate and re-orient business models, and to develop differentiated service and advisory capabilities that meet changing client expectations. We hope WMI will continue to be the trusted partner of choice for successive generations of wealth managers.
